Negative Prefixes (meaning „not”)

„Un”
Znaczenie: przeciwieństwo | nie | odwrócić / usunąć
- Sam looked unhappy at the party. What was wrong?
- My boss is very unfriendly.

- When the poet died, he left a number of unfinished poems.
- When he arrived at the hotel, Tim unpacked his suitcase.
- I unplugged my laptop and went to bed.
„Dis”
Znaczenie: przeciwieństwo | nie | odwrócić / usunąć
- Some politicians are dishonest.
- The think revolution is a good idea, but I disagree.
- The computer was getting hot so I disconnected the power supply.
- The nurse cleaned and disinfected the cut.
„In”
Znaczenie: przeciwieństwo | nie | Często używane z literami C / D / S / V / T oraz A / E / F / H
- Jack’s answer was incorrect and he got zero points.
- My boss is very indecisive and can’t make decisions fast.
- It was insensitive of you to shout at Julie.
- Harry Potter could make himself invisible, using a spell.
- Some people can be intolerant and closed-minded. It’s sad.
Uwaga: Jeśli słowo zaczyna się na literę „N”, należy powtórzyć tę literę. Na przykład: Numerate → INNumerate
„Im”
Znaczenie: przeciwieństwo | nie | Zasadniczo to samo co „IN”, ale z literami „M” i „P”
- Time travel is impossible, isn’t it?
- Sam lay in the street, immobile after falling off his bike.
- We are all imperfect. We should all work and improve ourselves.
Uwaga: Jeśli słowo zaczyna się na literę „M”, należy ją powtórzyć. Na przykład: Mature → IMMature
„Ir”
Znaczenie: przeciwieństwo | nie | Używane wyłącznie z literą R
- I hate learning irregular verbs.
- Please stop being irrational. We need to make logical decisions!
- It was irresponsible of you to smoke in front of the children.
- Jack and Julie’s relationship seems to be irreparable. They will never be friends again.

„Il”
Znaczenie: przeciwieństwo | nie | Używane wyłącznie z literą L
- Driving too fast is illegal.
- My doctor’s writing is illegible. I can’t read it!
- Please stay calm and think. We must not make illogical decisions.
